Three Common Misconceptions of Web Design

Misconception 1:

The first misconception most web design agencies in Dubai have is “opening up external links in a new tab will keep people on our website”.

Why it is still popular misconception would be discussed here in this article.

The first thing is that most users dislike this stuff. Shifting your user on to a new tab will give an impression of taking control of their browser and saying them, “ I know better than you”, a simple annoying stuff. In fact, the user will become frustrated especially when there is no effective back button because the user is in a new tab and they simply do not like that.

However, this “opening up a new tab” became widespread when people were forced to open a new window, but now where many advancements in UX has been made, I personally do not consider it an important move. Moreover, many UX movement supporters argue in favor of this statement.

I will take, “opening up a new tab and opening up a new window” are one of the same things, and it has a deep meaning of lack of trust at the end user. In fact, I am not alone in this statement, but Jacob Nielsen also talk that multiple tab opening will lead to “frequent context switches” which means the user will lose its focus and there are higher chances that they would not like to make a comeback. So, it is a recommendation for many web design agencies in Dubai to stop using an annoying move in their web design.

Misconception 2:

We always need a splash page to make our web design pop out.

The second misconception followed by many web design companies is that we need a splash page to attract our user.

Well, this is really a surprise to see that this web design misconception still exists. The evidence is really clear and that is that adding a splash page will act as a distractor and mostly considered as a massive drop in a number of audiences.

It will increase the bounce rate as people do not have much time about such things and that is why they probably want to skip such kind of pages. However, I did not mean that a landing page cannot be effective, but yes if it has lot of craft and less information then there are higher chances that you will miss your user for their second visit.

Misconception 3:

We need lot of text for better Search Engine Optimization.

Sites should have a lot of text that includes keywords, so that they show up high in the Google rankings.

Well, honestly a more subtle misconception that exist in many web design agencies in Dubai. Good SEO is always about the content which is related to a theme of the website rather just any content. A good web design agency must understand this and that is why it is recommended that we need only relevant content.
